Now that we are taking delivery and commissioning the Beneteau Sense 50′s that were ordered last year I thought that I should review my notes and add some new ones. Please read Charlie Doane’s Blog post about our sail on Sense 50 #2 from St. Petersburg to Naples in January 2011.
Commissioning Notes
Chilled Water Air Conditioning: One compressor (aft) & three air handlers makes for a quiet interior and more interior storage. Read More
Cockpit Pulpit: everyboat should have one.
Teak Decks: WOW - to paraphrase the original thought behind ordering the decks: “they may not be necessary but they sure do dress a fella up”
Cockpit winged seats: my favorite feature, I like sailing with them up.
Twin Rudders: Nothing new at Beneteau, the only way to have good control while heeled on a shoal draft boat. Read More
Hard Chines: looks cool, adds interior volume Read Cruising World’s thoughts
Low freeboard cockpit: no more “down below”, just 3 stairs to go ”below”
Companionway hideaway door: another must have for all future boats
Bunk Bed cabin option: great for kids with a built in lee board for the uper bunk.
Arc de Triomphe: The arch is the anchor for the mainsheet as well as the aft end of the dodger. Well hidden are the stereo speakers and LED lights.
