    RRS 52 “Manual Power” is modified to allow the use of winches operated by using stored power.

     1.      RULES

             The 2009-2012 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and the Corinthian Sailing Association Great Lake Race (GLR) Sailing Instructions will govern the Race. Corinthian Sailing Association will administer the Race.

    2.      DIVISIONS

             PHRF – Spinnaker, Non-Spinnaker, and Multihull divisions. Divisions may be broken into classes. Divisions are defined in the Sailing Instructions.

    3.      ELIGIBILITY

             Competitors: The race is open to all. Competitors need not be a member of a Yacht Club.  Boat: Participating boats should have a current, signed GYA PHRF certificate. Boats without a PHRF certificate will be assigned a rating based upon similar boats. The assigned rating cannot be protested.

    4.      ENTRY FEES

             Early entry – registration before September 20:

    US Sailing Members             $30.00

    Non-US Sailing Members     $35.00

             Late entry – registration after September 20:

    US Sailing Members             $45.00

    Non-US Sailing Members     $50.00

    Competitors are urged to register early so that the Race Committee can assign accurate class breaks.

             Dates

             Friday, September 21:

    1900 to 2200 – Mandatory Skipper’s Meeting and Crew Party at NOYC.

             Saturday, September 22 (rain date October 6):

             0900 – First Start. 20 nm steeplechase using fixed marks. Starts will be staggered starts according to PHRF rating. The Sailing Instructions will list start times for each PHRF rating.

             Awards presentation and Post-Race Party–following the race at SYC-401 N. Roadway Dr.-West End Area.  Awards to be given soon after  Race Committee docks.

             A gala event to benefit the New Canal Lighthouse rebuilding effort with be held later that evening at SYCand hosted by the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation.    Click Here for Details

    6.      REGISTRATION

             Entry forms can be found at http://www.corinthians.org/ and are available at area Yacht Clubs and at the Skipper’s Meeting or by contacting Rob Grisoli at grisdvm@cox.net or 504-491-0693. Registrations will not be accepted after the conclusion of the Skippers meeting.

    7.      SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

             Sailing Instructions will be posted on the CSA web site in draft form at http://www.corinthians.org/ and will be available in final form at the skippers meeting.

    8.      PENALTIES FOR BREAKING RULES OF PART 2

             RRS Rule 44-720 degrees turn penalties for breaking Rules of RRS Part 2 will apply.

    9.      PROTESTS

             Protests will be heard by the CSA Protest Committee according to the CSA Sailing Instructions at NOYC following the race.

    10.    PRIZES

             Prizes will be awarded to First, Second,and Third Placeboats in each class provided sufficient boats register.  The overall fleet winner will be awarded the Wendell Gauthier Perpetual trophy.
