Notice of Race (NOR): Saturday October 31st, 2015
Pensacola Yacht Club to Hemingway International Yacht Club
1.1. This regatta will be sailed under the management of the PYCRace Committee and governed
by rules as defined in the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and the Sailing Instructions for this regatta.The International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (Colregs) shall be adhered to from the Pensacola Sea Buoy to the Marina Hemingway Sea Buoy.
1.2. It is recommended that all boats comply with the current ISAF Offshore Racing Council (ORC) recommendations for offshore sailing, including the ORC Special Regulations for a Category 3 Event.
2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.1. Open to offshore capable racing & cruising sailboats. Divisions may include a) Racers b) Modern Cruisers c) Classic Cruisers d) Multihulls.
2.2. Entrants must have a valid PHRF Rating Certificate (obtainable via www.gya.org ).
2.3. PHRF ratings will be used for scoring purposes with the organizing authority enacting handicap adjustments where requested for size, materials and age of sails; for cruising equipment such as dinghy, davits, radar and other gear not normally found on racers.
2.4. Registration thru October 17th, 2015 may be accomplished by return of the Entry forms and fees through the US mail or by electronic return of scanned forms along with phone-in payment of fees by credit card to Pensacola Yacht Club at (850) 433-8804. All required forms are available on the racing section of the PYC web page at www.PensacolaYachtClub.org
2.5. Late Registrationafter October 17th, 2015 will be accepted on a case by case basis and with an accompanying late fee.
3. ENTRY FEE
3.1. Entry Fee= $300before August 31st, $350before September 30th, $400 thru Oct 17th.
3.2. Late Entry Fee =$500 after October 17th, 2015.
4.1. October 30th at 6:00 p.m. – Mandatory Skippers Meeting at Pensacola Yacht Club (PYC)
4.2. October 31st–“Bermuda Style” Pursuit Start for the Cruisers Divisions with the highest handicap rated boat starting first at 9:00 a.m. followed by the lower rated boats,in order according to the starting schedule,such that all cruising boats finish the race at theoretically the same time. A schedule of each individual entrant’s “Bermuda” start time will be available on the regatta web site and confirmed at the skippers meeting.
4.3. November 1st at 12:00 p.m. – Start for the Racers Division
4.4. November 6th–Castillo del Morro Regatta (“Race to the Castle”): Start time to beannounced. This race is an inshore sailing competition that will take place on the Friday after the arrival of the boats in Cuba. It is for the viewing pleasure of the Cuban citizens to promote positive relations between the peoples of Cuba and their US guests. We encourage participation by all our boats with possible inclusion of the Cubans and HIYC boats.
5. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
5.1. This regatta will be sailed under the Colregs and the Racing Rules of Sailing, exceptas modified by the Sailing Instructions for this regatta and/or by notice of the Race Committee.
5.2. TheSailing Instructions for this regatta will be available at the Skippers Meeting and on the PYC web page. Other details may also be provided at the Skippers Meeting.
5.3. VHF Radio Channel 68 will be monitored by the Race Committee at the start and finish of the race.
5.4.VHF Radio Channel 16 shall be monitored at all other times while boats are racing.
5.5.SSB (Single Side Band) monitoring as outlined in the Sailing Instructions.
6.1. The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A4 (RRS), will apply.
7.1. Trophy Ceremoniesfor both the Pensacola a la Habana Regatta and for the Race to the Castle will be held at the Hemingway International Yacht Club on Friday November 6th as soon as possible after completion of the Race to the Castle.
