For the competitive minded sailor that is not a fan of windward-leeward racecourses, Southern Yacht Club now has a “classic” class that sails a series of “classic” triangle courses on Lake Pontchartrain.  Since “classic” refers to the racecourse and not the boat, all PHRF non-sportboats are welcome, SYC members or not.

To encourage more modern cruising boats to join in the fun, a Rule Change For 2013 was enacted: RRS 52 “Manual Power” is modified to allow the use of winches operated by using stored power.  We applaud the SYC Classic Class for leadership in this positive trend of allowing electric winches while racing.

For more information and calendar of races for this exciting class visit the SYC PHRF website.
