THE BENETEAU Oceanis 41 and 45 share the common lineage as designs from Finot-Conq who, until 2008, were the masters of the Vendee Globe, designing winner after winner of the world’s toughest solo ocean race.
Pascal Conq, lead designer of winners such as Michel Desjoyeaux and Vincent Riou’s 2000 and 2004 IMOCA Open 60’s joined us at the annual Beneteau Global Sea Trials in La Ciotat, by Marseille, where he was a significant if surprisingly humble asset, happy to take dozens of journalists out on the new 41 and 45 as skipper, writes Yachting Life chief test editor Andi Robertson.
