The 36 Center Cockpit offers exceptional performance and a spacious interior, with all the traditional features of a Beneteau. On deck, you’ll find exceptional hardware and an easy-to-use sailplan. Below features a luxurious owners state-room aft and gourmet galley. Perfect for the live-a-boards or extended cruising, the 36CC is designed to sail fast and far.  The Beneteau 36CC was the most poplar of the center cockpit series.

Beneteau Oceanis 36 CC
Most sailors expect maximum interior space and the privacy of separate staterooms from a center-cockpit sailboat. The Beneteau Oceanis 36CC provides these qualities and more. Designer Jean Berret has given this new Beneteau an apple-cheeked charm of its own and impressively snappy sailing performance.
Below deck appointments – passageways with 6-foot, 4-inch headroom, a full-beam master cabin aft, and intelligently sited hull windows in the saloon that provide an outside view from almost every angle – are especially generous. The galley, shower, and navigation area are also roomy. In fact, the only area that was smaller than I expected was the swim porch aft, which is normal-sized.
While the standard below deck trim is a cherry-stained finish and done with care, I think its reddish tone is a bit too formal for a cruiser that has so many of the comforts of home. Below deck ventilation is outstanding.
The boat reached along easily at 7.5 knots in 12 knots of true wind. When we went onto a close-hauled course, I was surprised by both the Oceanis 36CC’s stiffness and its ability to shoulder through the decent-sized chop. Its deep and high-aspect-ratio rudder provided good control even when power-reaching. The cockpit is well above the water, but I didn’t feel out of touch; the sight lines from the helm are superior.
The double-spreader rig allowed the genoa to be trimmed in for effective close-hauled work. We didn’t have any trouble hitting 6 knots as we sailed upwind with apparent-wind angles of 38 to 40 degrees. Although the boat’s underbody is fair and relatively free of drag. its modest sailplan does hinder performance in very light air. But in the conditions we encountered, the 36CC’s all-around acceleration, efficient speed under power, and overall weatherliness was better than I would expect from such a beamy boat.
