American Sailing Association (ASA) Sailing Lessons in New Orleans aboard NEW Beneteau First 22’s.
101 – ASA Basic Keelboat Sailing
Prerequisite: Ability to have fun!
Learn to skipper a Beneteau ASA First 22 keelboat by day, in light to moderate winds and sea conditions. Learn basic sailing terminology, parts and functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, buoyage, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards.
Cost: $100 per student. 3 hours sailing on the water.
101 – ASA Basic Keelboat Sailing Certification Requirements
- 12 hours on the water; typically four, 3 hour lessons (see above).
- successful completion of written exam
Certification Package $500 includes 4 lessons, textbook, logbook & exam fees.
Gift Certificates are available for Sailing Lessons and Charters in any denomination. Certification Package $500 includes 4 lessons, textbook, logbook & exam fees.
ASA 101 written exam. $75. . Upon successful completion of the exam you will receive a logbook, a 1 year ASA membership and other perks. Offered by appointment. We recommend that you purchase the ASA 101 text book.
Private Lessons are available for a cost of $400 per 3 hours of instruction. Private Lessons accommodate up to 4 people. Book one for some dedicated time with an instructor, or get a group together and split the rate! Click to schedule your private lesson

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be received at noon, three days prior to a lesson; failure to timely cancel results in forfeiture of fee. Should we have to postpone or cancel, your captain will notify you via the contact information that you provided. Please contact our office on the next business day to reschedule.
Lessons Confirmations are sent by email and include directions to your lesson.
How to prepare: There is the occasional splash or drizzle, but we don’t teach in heavy rain or lightning. Get ready to have a good time!
What to wear: Comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather. Sunscreen is recommended. Non-marking soled shoes are appreciated, but not required.
